Level and Audio Design

The level design and main music mechanic went through many iterations to get to the end result. Initially, all music in the game was a layering of audio queues for the platforms moving with a faint underlying melody layered into the background. This was soon changed to having music underlying the game and lining the platforms and traps to that underlying music. The levels also underwent changes as the music system changed to better introduce each mechanic and create a better flow between the levels.

Initial Design Phase

The project's design started off with an exploration into the selection of classic Gameloft games that the client (Gameloft) wanted us to investigate to design a re-imagined version. The game decided upon was Diamond rush, a side-scrolling platforming game. This game was set in a jungle temple, this was the main key component that we took forward into the design.
Once the game to be re-imagined was decided upon work began on developing an idea to make it distinct and bring it to a more modern audience. After iteration on possible mechanics and gameplay, we could switch the game up with. We decided on making a 2.5D rhythm platforming game. This allowed us to use unreal engines render pipeline to make a visually pleasing side-scrolling game.
